Modern Day Fairy Tales Unit (AOI- Human Ingenuity)– This unit takes the children’s prior knowledge of traditional fairy tales and turns it on its head. Think “Shrek”, “Hoodwinked” and many more modern twists on the traditional tales. We will be considering key moments within a story and looking at ways to inject humour and irony into the old tales of yesteryear.

Moving On to Personally Selected Fairytale Articles

When you begin your indivdual articles article there are a few steps that you should follow to help you keep on the right track-

Firstly, you will have access to a written version of the story you choose (Jack and the Bean Stalk also has an audio version). I have included a story board frame for you to print and fill out in order to make sure you are clear on the key events in the story.


Remember:- when we started the little pigs article, we created the opening paragraph using the when, where, why, what, re orientation format and then we made a mind map of all the people we may want to interview in the article. You should aim to do the same when creating your own!
